putting neil on the top line makes me think that the stache should consider returning his jack adams award......that's the DUMBEST thing i have ever seen. neil has been arguably ottawa's worst forward (and i use arguably lightly), and he gets rewarded for it...........

Serious Q: if it's Spezza being demoted to the third-line, are you less irritated by it?

That seems to me the big thing here. What's the actual ordering? How will ice be allocated?

good question, and hard to say. what irritates me is that you are handcuffing more most offensively gifted forward with, BY FAR, your least offensively gifted forward. at this point, i think neil is probably less valuable to this team then kassian is.......

Little harsh, considering the competition he and the team has faced. He's been mediocre, sure, but he's seeing a lot of pucks and isn't getting a ton of help from his defensemen.

I think he is adjusting line speed, but mostly...and you said it in your other post...secondary line scoring. There was none. Now, it will be spread all over.

This could be a tough team to play against.

Dude come on Kassian.. ok listen...Neil plays the man all the time this year...he has to stop. WithSpezza yelling at him on the ice, the guy will start playing the puck again while hitting guys on borad and using is body to drive to key area...just watch and see before we go balistic on this team. MAcLean is not that ignorant

my kassian comment was just an exaggeration......nobody is as useless as kassian.

i was simply saying that neil is a useless hockey player at this point in his career. he's slow, he has a negative hockey iq, and does nothing but take stupid penalties.

haha, i must agree: corvo and cowen = x amount of minutes of "uh oh" and "oh no".
damn, we need a d. a good d. sometimes i wonder if this is the stache passively aggressively trying to force melynk to bite the bullet and open the wallet.

i don't like the demoting of spez to the third (or promoting neil to the first)....
i liked the idea of putting the spez line second. i'd like to see him btw zibby and conacher on the second line. turris line as the first. i'd like to see michleuk with smith and possibly condra (unless we have any call ups) and then neil, grant, and i guess greening as our 4th.

i see the logic of having to break up meth / karlsson at this point, but the fact that we literally have no one to slide in to play with karlsson really speaks to our defence problems. GET A TOP 4 D SENS,

should be interesting tmrw nite. if we can't come on top the islanders, all ^$@% is gonna break loose.

Why? Brian Murray put Neil on Spezza's line all the time when he was coach. Spezza has a tendency when things get difficult to stay on the outside and try and make a ton of low percentage plays, with Neil and Conacher on the line Spezza knows everything will be straight to the net, that's where #89 and #25 will be all game, no fancy plays, just get a shot on net and let Neiler whack away at it.

I got no problems with it at all!

are you f-ing serious?!?!?!?!

murray was the coach in 2007, are you really comparing 2007 to 2013? should maclean put phillips as his top D pairing too? i mean hey, muray did it more then half a decade ago, so it must still be a good idea today.......

Serious as a heart attack.

I think the sentiment is the same - Neil goes to the net now like he did in 2007, Spezza has a tendency to try and pass through 5 sticks or move the puck to areas it shouldn't be going to - this is to tell Spezza "Don't think, just go straight to the net"

Every player has their tendencies and needs a reminder of how to be a better player - Spezza isn't immune from this.

Also, hate to break your bubble, Phillips in practice is in the top pairing.

Tough day to be you, you're taking this practice lines pretty hard.

I think all these changes are way too rushed.

We are 4-6-2 after playing the hardest part of our schedule, by far.

I hate this line juggling. The Sens have 3 new guys in their top 6 (if you include Conacher up there) and it's going to take some time to gel.

Juggle the BOTTOM 6 if you want cause they have looked horrible.

Goal scoring has NOT been Ottawa's problem. The Sens are averaging just under 3 goals per game, which is actually pretty damn solid.

Keeping them out of our net is the problem. Juggle the D pairings. Bring up Boro.. do whatever you want.. but stop screwing around with the top 6. All it does is ruin whatever confidence these guys have going.

Oh and Neil is totally useless now. The guy should not be playing more than 10 mins per game.

if you're actually dense enough to think that phillips on the top pair will go beyond practice, or at the most, 1-2 shifts in the game................

but in all seriousness why are neil and phillips getting so much ice time? clearly these guys are shells of their former selves.. i cringe every single time i see either of these two on the powerplay which im sure is going to be happening alot when we play the isles..

well, according to tuna, murray used to use them a lot in 2007, which makes it a good idea now......

I think I'd prefer to see Michalek on the third line as well. I think Smith has been alright, but not great. I have seen nothing from Michalek that leads me to believe he's really that much of an upgrade over Neil on the first line to be honest. He's got a few points, but he's getting prime minutes with good players. Even Neil once put up over 20 goals in a season.

I think I'd rather see Michalek with Grant and Condra on line 3/4, or even with Neil and Smith.
